Neubooterdammerung, 17: Andy Jackson

Precipice

The shops are opening but nothing is selling.
The bus is coming but the driver isn’t stopping.

The factory’s humming but the bots aren’t talking.
The speech is writing but the speaker is blurring.

The fever is tightening but the drugs aren’t working.
The trucks are queuing but the ships aren’t sailing.

The brush is painting but the canvas is shrinking.
The song is playing but the crowds aren’t listening.

The people are marching but the roads are forking.
The train is coming but the lights aren’t flashing.

The cliff is looming but the wheel’s not for turning.
The satnav is blaring but no-one is driving.
